A spokesman for Cheyenne regional medical center says a recent Hospital Safety Report by the Washington D.C. based non-profit Leapfrog Group was based on old information and penalized CRMC for not giving the group money.

The report gave CRMC an overall grade of ''C'', but Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Lind says the report automatically gave bonus points to hospitals that joined the organization and gave it money, which CRMC refused to do. Lind also says the report also derived information from reports by the federal Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, but only looked at about 27 different areas out of the more than 80 the center reports on.

Lind also says some of the report information is outdated and fails to recognize recent improvements at the hospital in a number of different areas.
