Hill Applauds Third Grade Math Scores

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Cindy Hill says she is very pleased with the latest Wyoming third grade math scores on the PAWS--or Proficiency Assessment  of Wyoming Students--test. The results show 90.4 percent of state third graders earning a rating of either proficient or advanced in math on the test. Hill says those results are even more remarkable in view of the fact that on average roughly 13 percent of Wyoming students are identified as having "handicapping conditions", which often require them to learn at a pace a grade level or two behind other students the same age. Hill says there has been an emphasis on improving the third grade math PAWS scores, and the latest results indicate those efforts are paying off.
