It's cold and snowing outside, but have you really prepared the outside of your home for potential damage to it this year?   Today on the Top 5 at 7:45, I'll highlight 5 things that homeowners in Cheyenne should know about as Old Man Winter makes his way through.

  1. Impact Rated Roof - This will help to aid in protection of your roof during those nasty hail and ice storms.
  2. Check Downspouts and Gutters - Clean the leaves out of those gutters as they will freeze and could cause damage.
  3. Overhanging Trees - Trim those tree branches back, especially the dead ones as heavy snow and ice can break them, causing damage to your roof and gutters.
  4. Roof Flashing - Inspect the flashing around your roof for leaks and breakage and ensure that they are properly sealed to keep the water out.
  5. Visual Roof Inspection - Look for maintenance issues or potentials that could make your roof more susceptible to hail or wind damage.

The Top 5 at 7:45 airs weekdays with me, Gary Freeman and sponsored by First Education Federal Credit Union.
