Hathaway Scholarships Provide Incentive To Students

Adam Porter, Townsquare Media

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Statistics show that the Hathaway Scholarship is giving Wyoming junior high and high school students incentive to perform better in the classroom.

Mike Massie is special assistant to the University of Wyoming president. He presented figures to a legislative committee Tuesday in Riverton showing that more students entering UW are receiving the honors scholarship award.

Massie says that means they are doing their best in junior high and high school to access the highest level of financial support available to them.

The Hathaway Scholarship is available to Wyoming residents who have attended colleges in the state since 2006. It offers four levels of scholarship awards.
Freshmen students can receive up to $3,200 a year from the program, depending on their high school grades, test scores and high school curriculum.
