Hasenauer Questions Towing Ordinance

Laramie County Commissioner M. Lee Hasenauer says he questions some aspects of a towing ordinance passed by the Cheyenne City Council on Monday.

Hasenauer says he's not sure the cap on towing fees of $160 for towing companies doing work for the Cheyenne Police Department is legal. He also says some of the permitting requirements might exceed the city council's authority, since most or all towing yards are located outside the city limits in Laramie County.

Hasenauer says he is currently researching the legality of the ordinance, adding he may bring it before the county commission if his findings warrant some kind of action by that board. Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen on Tuesday declined comment on Hasenauer's remarks.
