CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Grand Teton officials have released the names of a Colorado couple killed in a plane crash in the national park.

The crash happened just after noon Wednesday, and park officials say the two on board were dead when emergency responders arrived. The victims were identified as 67-year-old Russell Kamtz and 65-year-old Carol Kamtz, of Loveland, Colo. The couple are survived by their two children.

The single-engine plane crashed near Jackson Hole Airport, Wyoming’s busiest airport and the only commercial airport in the nation located inside a national park.

A witness said the plane was approaching the airport from the south when it banked and nose-dived into the ground.

Park officials say the plane was an RV7, a two-seat, single-engine aircraft that is home built and classified as experimental.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
