The new Grand Conservatory Building at the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens is scheduled to open on August 14.

Laramie County voters in 2012 signed off on spending $16 million in sixth-penny sales tax money to build the conservatory and renovate the gardens' greenhouse.

The new three-story building will add almost 30,000 square feet to the Botanic Gardens. Some of the features of the new building include an observation deck that overlooks the city, a second-floor classroom with a submarine telescope and an orangery with arch windows. There are also spaces available for rent throughout the building.

General admission to the Botanic Gardens will continue to be free, although donations are always accepted.  Rental fees will be charged for specialty events.
