Governor Matt Mead and First Lady Carol Mead donned their Dr. Suess hats and joined kids from local schools for the National Education Association's "Read Across America" day in the capitol rotunda Monday. The event marked the 110th birthday of Dr. Suess.

Governor Mead signed a proclamation recognizing "Read Across America" day in Wyoming and First Lady Carol Mead read her book "Wyoming Firsts,” a chronicle of some historical events in the state’s history, to the students. Mrs. Mead said early childhood literacy was one of the issues she is very interested in. Legislative spouses also took part in the day, reading to several groups of children.
