Governor Matt Mead, in response to the Bureau of Land Management's draft rule for hydraulic fracturing released last week,  says Wyoming is well ahead of the BLM on regulating hydraulic fracturing.

Mead says Wyoming and other states have already passed regulations dealing with fracking.

...I'm troubled by it not because of what it does, because Wyoming  in 2010 already had fracking disclosure rules, and our rules as we look at em look like they are more rigorous  than what is proposed by the federal government. The problem is we want to have initiatives in our state's to be proactive on these types of issues. I think it's a dis-incentive for the federal government to step in a say we want to have a cookie cutter approach..

Mead adds that proven leadership and effective regulation at the state level causes him to question the need and purpose of federal regulation.
