Governor Matt Mead has appointed an interim State Oil and Gas Supervisor. The Governor’s Office says Mead, after consulting with other members of the Oil and Gas conservation Commission, appointed Bob King to serve as interim supervisor.

The position became vacant following the resignation of the former supervisor, Tom Doll, who stepped down amid controversy over remarks he made in Canada about some Pavillion residents.  While speaking to other oil and gas regulators in Vancouver, British Columbia, Doll said greed was motivating some people who claimed that hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking,” contaminated their groundwater.  King, who previously assisted as the interim supervisor in 2008 and 2009, will start on Monday.
