CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Thirty-three members of the Goshen County Republican Party have signed a letter that rebukes Republican Gov. Matt Mead for not do more to fight same-sex marriage in Wyoming.

The letter also calls on GOP officeholders to heed the Wyoming Republican Party's platform planks that oppose gay marriage.

The Goshen County letter was sent to Mead, Senate President-elect Phil Nicholas and House Speaker-elect Kermit Brown. Nicholas and Brown are both Republicans from Laramie.

Mead responded in a statement that he's been firm in his stance that marriage is between a man and woman but Wyoming must follow court orders that forced the state to accept gay marriage.

Mead noted the Goshen County group was silent when the state was fighting gay marriage in court.
