Have you seen Gooding at any of their Financial Literacy shows?

Using the power of a live rock performance, Gooding relate their own story to inspire young people with lessons about finance and discipline. They discuss topics including predatory lending, the danger of credit card debt and saving early.

Control your money or it will control you, lead singer and band's namesake Gooding says. The hype of overnight success in sports, music and acting can lead us to believe that our day to day discipline and the mentors in our own communities don't have value, when these are THE MOST important resources we have.

The Triumph High School performance was sponsored by a group of 12 Cheyenne community banks for the first time. Each bank donated $50 to start a Triumph student's savings account and raffle tickets were passed out at the show for a chance to win one.

Rita Pouppirt with Funding The Future says Gooding has performed at 5 Financial Literacy shows in Wyoming, 4 in Colorado, 6 in their home state of Kansas and one each in Texas and Oklahoma.

The Financial Literacy shows in Colorado were sponsored by Raymond James Financial who is now looking into supporting more upcoming shows in southern California, New York City, Florida, Texas and Canada.

The band Gooding is made up of:

  • Gooding-guitarist and vocalist
  • Jesse Rich-drummer and backing vocals
  • Billy Driver-bassist and backing vocals
  • Jenny Wood-guitarist and vocalist

Here's a performance of their latest single, 'Oblivion,' from April 17, 2014 at the Townsquare Media studios in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
