With fishing season right around the corner, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department is ramping up its efforts to stock anglers' favorite fishing spots.

As part of a campaign to better educate the public about the fish stocking and fish hatcheries, the department's fish distribution trucks are sporting a new look.

"We have these nice new tank wraps," said Adam Leiferman, Statewide Response Specialist with the department's Fisheries Division. "Our tanks were 23 years old and kind of falling apart, so we had these brand new tanks built for us."

The tanks spotlight a fish species found in Wyoming and messages like: "Stocking more than 5 million fish each year" and "Stocking Wyoming's fish since 1882."

"We saw it as a neat opportunity to help share what we do with fish culture and get people excited about fishing here in the state," said Leiferman.

Fish distribution crews stock fish from ten hatcheries into 450 waters throughout the state. They also trade fish species with other states to provide walleye, bass and crappie fishing opportunities in Wyoming.
