A Rock Springs woman charged with exploitation of a vulnerable adult and felony theft has been captured in Colorado.

Sweetwater County Sheriff Mike Lowell said that 44-year-old Amy L. Callahan was traced to Colorado by detectives of the Sheriff’s Office SNAAG unit and arrested without incident by officers of the Greeley, Colorado, Police Department on March 31.

Callahan’s charges are the result of a Rock Springs Police Department investigation involving the theft of a 1994 Ford Explorer from a woman with difficulties caring for herself.

Exploitation of a vulnerable adult and felony theft both carry the same maximum possible penalty of 10 years of imprisonment, a $10,000 fine, or both.

The Sweetwater Cou8nty Sheriff’s Office SNAAG (Sheriff’s Narcotics and Arrest Group) is a new unit that focuses on cases involving drugs and and people who try to escape arrest.. In its first four weeks of operation it has made over 50 arrests of fugitives and people wanted on  warrants.
