AP-CO- Boulder County commissioners have approved new oil and gas guidelines that will allow fracking on unincorporated parts of the county.

The Daily Camera (http://bit.ly/UWvFjT ) reports that the meeting Thursday was crowded with opponents but was civil. Citing a "bullying atmosphere" at a previous meeting, commissioners approved a security plan to remove anyone who would have disrupted the meeting where the commission unanimously approved the regulations.

Opponents wanted the county to ban fracking, saying the procedure blasting water, sand and chemicals underground to free oil and natural gas is unsafe. Supporters say the procedure is safe and the state has sufficient regulations in place to protect the public.
