Former U.S. Ambassador Marc Wall is UW Visiting Senior Scholar in Global Studies

Ambassador Marc Wall is the new Senior Visiting Scholar in Global Studies at the University of Wyoming

Marc Wall, the U.S. Pacific Command’s foreign policy adviser and a former United States ambassador is the new Senior Visiting Scholar in Global Studies at the University of Wyoming.

According to a UW release, Marc Wall will be the new Senior Visiting Scholar in Global Studies for the University. The release goes on to say this was all possible though UW’s Global Studies Excellence Initiative which was funded by the Wyoming’s Excellence in Higher Education Endowment.

“Ambassador Wall brings to the classroom policy expertise and diplomatic experience gained in a career spanning almost four decades as a United States Foreign Service officer,” says Jean Garrison, UW Global and Area Studies director. “This is a unique opportunity for UW students interested in diplomatic, government and overseas careers to learn the art of diplomacy and policy practice from an expert with extensive experience in the field.”

The University explains that Wall has traveled around the world coordinating reconstruction programs in Iraq, managed trade initiatives in Japan, China, and Taiwan, and serving in posts in the likes of Zimbabwe.

The release goes on to say Wall has been a member of the Secretary of State’s policy planning staff in Washington D.C. as well as holding other positions helping to shape the U.S. policy in Africa, Asia, and other international economic organizations. The former U.S. ambassador has taught at Georgetown University, the National Defense University, the city of College in New York, and at George Washington University.

According to the University, Wall’s fall course will look at the changing of security, economic, and political sections before and after the Cold War across the many different regions. Wall will also travel around different Wyoming communities speaking to groups about his knowledge of Global and Area studies.

The University says Wall received his bachelor’s degree with honors in European history at Princeton University and his Master of Arts at Columbia University’s School of International Affairs.
