Forget-Me-Nots are a great way to help us remember the dedication and sacrifice of our veterans. This weekend as you visit different stores and warehouses around Cheyenne, you may see a table with the little flowers on them.

Representatives from Cheyenne's local Disabled American Veterans Chapter 2 will be throughout the community this weekend, May 24 - 25, 2014, handing out Forget-Me-Nots in hopes to receive a donation from the public as a charity fund raiser to help our local disabled vets.

The year was 1926 and on February 24, the first Forget-Me-Not drive was held to raise fund's to support DAV services and help provide assistance desperately needed by disabled veterans who served their country in World War II. The thought of donating the little blue flowers came from an image carried home in the memories of soldiers from the war, who had seen Spring flowers growing on the graves of comrades and allies killed in the fighting.

This weekend, remember our disabled veterans by donating to the chapter for the support of people in Cheyenne and Laramie County. Since this weekend is Memorial Day, it would be a good time to show some patriotism with your humble donation.

If you would like to volunteer a few hours over the weekend, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., contact the chapter commander L.D. Janos at 307-630-5705.
