FMC Corporation's Green River, Wyoming manufacturing facility recently was recognized by the Industrial Minerals Association-North America (IMA-NA) for having the best overall safety record in 2013 in the large company category.

The organization offers the award in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Labor's Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). FMC's Green River operation logged over 1.8 million hours with only 12 injuries reported-a rate of only 1.28 injuries per 200,000 employee work-hours.

The facility mines trona from 1,600 feet underground and then processes the material into soda ash, sodium bicarbonate and caustic soda, which are used for a wide variety of products ranging from toothpaste to auto glass.
