Five Candidates Chosen For Open Council Seat

Cheyenne Ward I City Council members Scott Roybal and Annette Williams have narrowed the list of Ward I replacement candidates down to five after conducting interviews on Friday.

The council members interviewed 23 candidates who applied for the vacant Ward I City Council position. Each candidate was given 15 minutes to answer four questions.
After going into executive session late Friday afternoon, Roybal and Williams announced the following candidates were chosen to return for a second interview:
 Traci Collins
 Eric Fountain
 Marian Orr
 Mel Turner
 Jeff White

Those interviews will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10 in City Council Chambers, 2101 O’Neil Ave.

The second round of interviews, like the first, are open to the public, however, public comment will not be taken during the interviews. Public comments are welcome when Roybal and Williams introduce their nominee or nominees to the governing body for consideration and action.

A vacancy in Ward I currently exists because of the recent death of Jimmy Valdez.
