Firefighters from around the state and region participated in the second annual "Honoring Tradition, Leading Change" fire service conference in Cheyenne over the weekend sponsored by Laramie County Fire District #2.

District #2. Chief Jason Coughey says "today's fires are burning hotter and faster than ever. Vehicle extrications are more complicated and pose a higher threat to firefighters, and as leaders we must continually learn and train appropriately."

The conference featured presentations from experts from around the country, including Ron Moore's Extrication University which is designed to take extrication practices to the next level with hands on training.

The weekend ended with a live burn opportunity that used infrared to evaluate air track management and fire behavior.
