Residents of the communities affected by the Keystone Fire will be able to return to their homes today.

Fire managers modified the Keystone Fire Closure for home owners in Moore’s Gulch, and Keystone after all contingency line work was completed. Power will be restored to that area Friday, July 28th, according to a Keystone Fire update. Albany county officials issued evacuation orders for the communities on July 3 and they remained inaccessible until today.

The fire closure has also been lifted for Rob Roy Reservoir, which includes the Rob Roy Campground, Cinnabar Park and Bobbie Thomson. The Spruce Mountain Lookout Tower is being used for communications by firefighters and remains closed.

All roads in the area are open, except 511, 562 and 586. Fire managers say to expect logging trucks to be present on roads 500 and 507 for the next several days.

The fire is currently 75 percent contained and encompasses 2,527 acres. Fire crews will continue to patrol the fire perimeter and look out for hot spots. Smoke coming from the interior of the fire will still be visible as unburned pockets of fuel ignite with warmer weather.
