The Cheyenne City Council Finance Committee on Monday refused to get behind a proposal for a study of the city's Solid Waste Division.

Among other things the study would look at converting the Solid Waste Division to an Enterprise Fund. That change would  make the Solid Waste Division self-supporting, and money generated by solid waste fees would not be used for other city government operations. The proposed study would also look at solid waste fees, including how dumpster fees paid by local businesses are assessed. The Finance Committee did vote 2-1 Monday in favor of a seperate proposal that would change how the dumpster fees are assessed.

At Monday's meeting councilwoman Georgia Broyles moved for approval of the proposed study, but it died for lack of a second. Despite the fact the proposal failed in Finance Committee it will still go before the entire city council for further consideration.
