The Cheyenne City Council Finance Committee on Monday voted unanimously to apply for funding for an elevated walkway to serve a Hilton Hotel which may locate here.

The committee voted 3-0 in favor of the funding request through the Wyoming Business Council's Business Ready Community Grant and Loan Program. If approved, roughly $562,000 of the funding would be in the form of a grant, while $187,000 would be awarded through a loan.

If built, the elevated walkway would connect the hotel from it's proposed location at 17th and Pioneer to the nearby city parking garage. One feature of the proposed walkway would be a key card entry system to restrict the use of the walkway to hotel guests and keep others, including homeless people, from using the walkway.

According to information presented at the meeting, if the grant and loan money is awarded in the amount proposed it should essentially cover the cost of the project. The proposed application must be approved by the full city council before being submitted by the city
