Cheyenne Botanic Garden's Director Shane Smith and City of Cheyenne Urban Forester Lisa Olson says because of the unseasonably dry, warm weather the area has experienced in recent weeks it would be a good idea to water your outdoor plants.

Smith says that while he normally would be advising people on mulching rather than watering in early December, the unseasonably warm weather means you should break out your garden hose and give your outdoor plants an non-typical (for this area) December watering. Smith says he hopes more typical winter weather area arrives soon, because the disruption in climate is not good for outdoor plants.

Olson adds that since the area is about six inches below normal precipitation levels, watering right now is an especially good idea.
