A two vehicle crash Thursday evening  claimed the life of a 54 year old Evanston man, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Sgt. David Wagener says Kurt Cloward was southbound in a 2001 Chevy Malibu on US Highway 89 at 7:45 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle on the snowy, ice covered roadway.

After the Cloward vehicle came to rest perpendicular on the highway, a northbound 2011 GMC Yukon driven by 35 year old Marion Dory of Grover hit the Malibu on the driver's side.

Wagener says Cloward suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was declared dead at the scene. Two other separate crashes ensued from this crash, resulting in the closure of that area of the highway for about two and a half hours.

The accident happened at milepost marker 66.95 about 17 miles south of Afton. Blowing snow and slick roads are being investigated as possible factors in the crash.
