Enzi on 9-11

U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., issued the following statement concerning the 12^th anniversary of September 11, 2001:

“More than a decade ago, America showed the world our resolve, our strength, and our commitment to our principles, as we stood together as one nation in the face of the worst act of terrorism in our nation’s history.

“Out of the darkness, America stood united. Our flag flew from every building, every window, and every doorstep. We helped those around us and looked out for complete strangers. I truly believe if we spent more time getting to know one another, our nation would be a lot less divided and a lot more united.

9/11 will always be a day of somber remembrance, but it should also be a reminder of how far we have come as a country and those who continue to protect our freedoms both at home and abroad. America’s freedom comes with a price and we cannot ever forget that. Generations of men and women have stepped up to defend their country, often paying the ultimate price for the nation they loved.

“Let’s remember September 11 and the feelings we had for our country and each other. May we rekindle the sense of community, country and world that we felt then. May lasting good come out of the chaos.”
