DWS and Partners Launch New Wyoming Safety and Workforce Summit

ROCK SPRINGS – Today, the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services and its partners announced the 2013 Wyoming Safety and Workforce Summit will be held June 25-26 at Western Community College in Rock Springs, Wyoming.

The Wyoming Safety and Workforce Summit is a new joint effort between the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services and the following partners: the Wyoming Workforce Development Council (WWDC), the Wyoming Refining Safety Alliance, the Wyoming Contractors Association, the Wyoming Oil and Gas Industry Safety Alliance and the Petroleum Association of Wyoming.

The Wyoming Safety and Workforce Summit is a new collaboration that streamlines several safety conferences that were held in Wyoming and the annual Summit on Workforce Solutions into one event.

“The effort behind the new Wyoming Safety and Workforce Summit speaks to what Wyoming is working toward together: safety as way of life and the strengthening of Wyoming’s workforce,” said Director of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services Joan Evans. “We are sending the message that a strong safety culture and a strong, innovative workforce go hand-in-hand in empowering Wyoming business owners, their employees and our state’s economic vitality. The Department of Workforce Services and our partners are looking forward to a very successful event.”

During the Summit, the Governor’s Safety Awards, along with industry association awards, will be presented to Wyoming employers demonstrating a strong safety culture and excellence in safety and health programs. Additionally, the WWDC, in partnership with the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, will honor Wyoming employers who have made exceptional contributions to Wyoming’s workforce.
