A spokesman for the Cheyenne Police Department says the Cheyenne Regional DUI Task Force will be looking for intoxicated drivers this weekend.

St. Patrick's Day is Sunday, and officer Dan Long says the task force will be out looking for drunk drivers starting Friday night, since many of the St. Patrick's Day parties are planned for Friday or Saturday night. Long says St. Patrick's Day typically sees an increase in the number of motorists who drink and drive, with over 700 people killed nationally in drunk driving crashes over the holiday between 2006 and 2010.

Besides the Cheyenne Police Department, other agencies involved in the DUI task force include the Laramie County Sheriff's Department, Wyoming Highway Patrol, and law enforcement with Wyoming State Parks.
