A spokesman for the Cheyenne Police Department says the Regional DUI Task Force will be out New Year's Eve and early New Year's Day looking for impaired motorists.

Sgt. Rob Dafoe says besides local police, the Laramie County Sheriff's Department, Wyoming Highway Patrol, and law enforcement officials from Wyoming state parks will be watching for intoxicated drivers. Dafoe says that although New Year's Eve is traditionally a busy night for DUI arrests, the last couple of years has seen a drop in those numbers locally. But  Dafoe cautions the dangers of impaired driving are made even worse on New Year's Eve because of the winter driving conditions that are typically prevalent in Wyoming this time of year.
