Tis the season to be jolly, but is also the season for theft. According to a police department in Atlanta said that December is the biggest month for theft.

We want you to have a wonderful and safe holiday season this year, so here are 5 tips to consider for your safety and for the protection of your gifts.

  1. Surroundings - Be aware of what is going on in parking lots and in your neighborhood, regardless of how safe it is. People could take a shortcut through your street and rob you along the way.
  2. Traveling - Keep an eye on your belongings and your offspring. Make sure the people you are traveling with know where you're going at all times.
  3. Package Delivery - Think about having packages delivered to the office or a neighbor who will be home to receive it. The last thing you want is a package sitting on your front porch to be stolen.
  4. Online Shopping - Avoid using a debit card as it does not have the same protections as a credit card. Also, try to shop at one or two of your favorite sites as it will be easier to track should a hacker get to your card.
  5. Box Store Shopping - Make sure when you go to shop at a mall or box store that you park your automobile in a well lit area. Also, keep all of your packages in the truck, and not in the car itself, until you get home.
