Laramie County District Attorney Jeremiah Sandburg, who took office earlier this year, says his office is "up and running" on prosecuting cases, especially jury trials.

Sandburg defeated then-incumbent D.A. Scott Homar in the 2014 Republican primary and went on to be elected to the office in November.

He says when he first took office  "we took a little bit of a hiatus" from prosecuting cases as staffers got up to speed on the various cases and upcoming trials. But he says "things are really coming together" at this point, noting prosecutors have been in court for six consecutive weeks of jury trials and are back again this week.

Sandburg says he's especially proud of the way his staff handled the recent trial of Ronald Zimmerman of Burns, who was convicted of second-degree murder for killing his wife last summer.

Sandburg specifically cited the work of prosecuting attorney Leigh Anne Manlove during that trial.
