CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Cheyenne Regional Medical Center has hired a "chief experience officer" to help improve patient satisfaction and physician involvement.

Hospital CEO Margo Karsten tells the Wyoming Tribune Eagle that Kristen Truman-Allen began work in January. The program will be evaluated in six months to see if it should continue.

Truman-Allen says she visits patients on rounds with doctors and asks what the hospital and its employees need to do differently, or what they are doing right. She then gives feedback to providers.

She also leads listening sessions during which former patients describe their experiences.

Truman-Allen says the goal is for patients to feel like they're being heard.

She says doctors who receive high patient satisfaction scores listen well and make sure their patients understand their care.
