The Director of the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Foundation says the foundation will be applying for a $1 Million grant through the Business Ready Community Grant Program to build a new clinic in Pine Bluffs. Steve Stone says if the grant is approved,  the new facility would replace an existing clinic that has operated since 1959.

Stone says the new clinic would continue a partnership with the University of Wyoming Family Health Residency program, with the CRMC foundation owning the building and the family medicine program staffing the clinic with residents. Stone says the application for the grant will be formally presented on September 1.There is a cap of $1 million on those grants, and Stone says the CRMC Board has also committed to spend $250,000

.Stone says the Town of Pine Bluffs has offered to provide some in-kind contributions, adding that some additional money will be needed to provide equipment for the facility and cover other costs.Stone says it's not clear yet what the total cost of the new facility will be, but he says the foundation expects to have that amount firmed up in the near future.

Stone says if the grant is approved and all goes according to plan, work on the new clinic could start in March of 2014. The facility then could open sometime during the summer of 2014. He adds the new clinic would measure around 4400 square feet. That compares to a size of around 2600 square feet for the existing clinic
