Dr. John Lucas (Courtesy CRMC)[/caption]Cheyenne Regional Medical Center CEO Dr. John Lucas says he will resign his post on Sept. 1 to retire.

Lucas says his five years as CRMC head have been ''wonderful" adding "we've done some great things". Lucas says he feels some of his achievements include a building campaign to upgrade hospital facilities, a new cancer center , the implementation of the "Epic'' record keeping system, and a general improvement in access to health care for Cheyenne residents.

Lucas says the hospital board will want input from various segments of the community on his replacement, ranging from the Laramie County Commission to business and civic leaders to local doctors. Lucas says the board will probably appoint a search committee to find a new CEO to find the best possible candidate for the job

Lucas says he plans to split his time in retirement between his home in Cheyenne and his other residence in New Mexico.
