A man who died on July 4th in a single vehicle rollover crash has been identified as a 50 year old Cheyenne resident, according to a spokesman for the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Sgt. Steve Townsend says investigators believe David R. Lowe was westbound was westbound on Wyoming Highway 210 (also known as Happy Jack Road) a little after 6:30 pm Thursday when his 1999 Ford Ranger went off the right side of the roadway. Townsend says it's believed that Lowe applied the brakes as his vehicle left the road, and the vehicle started to rotate counter-clockwise as it oriented back towards the road.

Townsend says the vehicle apparently rolled 1 1/2 times and slid on it's roof. Townsend says Lowe, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and came to rest on the roadway

According to Townsend Lowe was not carrying any identification at the time of the crash, which caused a delay in identifying him and notifying his family. Townsend says excessive speed and alcohol use are being investigated as possible contributing factors in the crash.
