What was feared when he left Tuesday night’s game against Fresno State has become reality for Larry Nance, Jr. The junior forward for the Wyoming Cowboys will miss the rest of this season after tearing the ACL in his right knee.

Nance was hurt making a move from the left baseline up the left side of the lane towards the free throw line. After he made a pass to a teammate, Nance collapsed to the floor holding his right knee with 14:51 left in the game. He stayed down for several minutes before he was helped off the court. He didn’t put any weight on his right knee.

After the game last night, Wyoming head coach Larry Shyatt said, “I don’t think it looks good.”

His thoughts were realized today, as the University of Wyoming released the official word this afternoon. There was no official quote from coach Shyatt in the release.

It’s a big loss for the Cowboys, as Nance was leading the team in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots and steals.

Wyoming has won three straight games. They are 17-9 this season, which includes an 8-5 record in the Mountain West Conference. That has the Cowboys in fourth place in the league standings.

The Pokes have five games remaining in the regular season. First up is the Border War against rival Colorado State in Fort Collins this Saturday at 4 p.m.
