The Wyoming Cowboys stay in the post-season was short-lived. Wyoming posted season-lows in points and field goal percentage and lost at Texas A&M 59-43 in the first round of the 2014 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) Wednesday night.

Courtesy of Learfield Sports, Wyoming head coach Larry Shyatt said, “It’s a shame it had to end with one of our poorest performances, but kudos to Texas A&M; they got a lead and held on to it.”

UW scored only 43 points, which was their lowest offensive out-put of the year. They also shot a season-low 30 percent (14-47) from the floor, which included 5-24 (21%) from beyond the arc. The Pokes also committed 15 turnovers.

The Cowboys trailed by nine points just four minutes into the game. They were down 12 with 12:33 left in the first half and got no closer than 13 points the rest of the game. The Aggies built a 21-4 lead midway through the first half and were ahead 32-16 at the break.

Texas A&M’s biggest lead was 26 points with 7:12 left in the game.

Senior Jerron Granberry led the Cowboys with ten points. Senior Nathan Sobey added nine.

The Aggies were led by Kourtney Roberson, who had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Antwan Space added 11 points and 11 boards. Texas A&M enjoyed a 41-27 edge on the glass.

Wyoming’s season concluded with an 18-15 overall record.
