The Wyoming Cowboys came back to beat the Troy Trojans 72-66 Monday night in Laramie in a game that featured a two hour-plus power delay.

Wyoming (9-2) won their sixth straight game and remained undefeated at home on the season. This was their second win as part of the on-campus piece to the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic.

The Cowboys trailed 41-31 with just over 17 minutes left in the game. A 13-4 run capped by a pair of Louis Adams free throws pulled the Pokes within 44-45 midway through the second half. UW twice had a chance to take the lead, but failed until Jason McManamen scored on a driving lay-up from the right wing with 3:44 left.

Justin James scored eight straight points, and his basket at the 2:45 mark gave Wyoming the lead for good. James made two more field goals and added a pair of free throws in the final 2:11. Jeremy Lieberman knocked in two from the line with 25 seconds left, as the Cowboys pulled away for the six-point victory.

James scored a game-high 27 points after missing the previous game due to a suspension. He scored 19 of his 27 in the second half. Hayden Dalton finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds for his second straight double-double. McManamen added 10 points.

The Pokes shot 40 percent in the game, but were only 4-23, 17 percent, from beyond the arc. They finished with a 47-38 edge in rebounding. That led to 20 second chance points.

Troy (6-6) had three players in double figures led by Wesley Person’s 16 points. The Trojans shot only 34 percent from the field. They did capitalize with 22 points off 18 Wyoming turnovers, but 15 Troy turnovers led to 21 points for UW.

The game was interrupted by a power outage in Laramie at 7:20 p.m. The delay almost caused a cancellation of the game. After a two hour wait, and a decision looming, power was restored at 9:21 p.m. After a 10 minute warm-up, the game resumed at 9:34 p.m.

Wyoming began the game on a 10-4 spurt, but Troy rallied and tied it at 13-13 when the power outage occurred. The Trojans scored five quick points after the game restarted. UW answered back with a 9-3 spurt and tied it at 21. Troy held a 32-29 lead at halftime. They went on a 9-2 run at the start of the half that build the 41-31 lead.

The Cowboys will conclude the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic in Las Vegas Thursday and Friday. Wyoming plays DePaul Thursday at 6:30 p.m., Mountain Time, from the Orleans Arena. They will face either USC or Missouri State in Friday’s game.

This was the scene a short time after the power outage in Laramie, which affected the Arena-Auditorium and over 7,300 Rocky Mountain Power customers in Laramie Monday night.
