Revenge was not in order for the Wyoming Cowboys, who lost 68-61 to Boise State on Saturday in Boise.

Wyoming (16-7, 2-7) played without Larry Nance, Jr., who hurt his wrist in UW’s win over CSU-Bakersfield. Without Nance, offense was tough for the Cowboys to find. Derrious Gilmore put up 14 points while Leonard Washington chipped in 4 in the first half. No other Cowboy scored in the first 20 minutes of play. Boise State closed out the half with a 10-0 run to gain a 37-19 advantage at halftime.

The second half opened with a pair of layups from true freshman as Jason McManamen, starting in Nance’s place, and Adams found the scoreboard. With 13 minutes to  Washington 3-pointer pulled Wyoming to within 11 at 45-34, but Mikey Thompson hit his own 3-pointer to break up the run.

The Cowboys did not allow the Broncos to put the game away though. A Gilmore 3-pointer brought the Pokes within 8 points with two minutes to play. Then Josh Adams hit two free throws and slammed down a rebound to make it 64-58. A BSU turnover gave UW a chance to make it a one-possession game, but Gilmore and Washington both missed 3-point shots. The Broncos then hit 4-of-6 free throws in the final minute to ice the game.

Gilmore led UW with a career-tying 26 points. Washington finished with 18 points and 15 rebounds while Adams had 13 points, all in the second half.

Boise State (16-7, 4-5) is now 10-1 on their home court. They were led by Anthony Drmic with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Cowboys will return home after two weeks on the road to play Nevada on Wednesday, February 13th at 7 p.m. Coverage will start on Y95 Country at 6:30 p.m.
