Two people were arrested following a rescue call involving an infant on October 15th.

According to information released yesterday by the Laramie Police Department, On October 15, 2012 Laramie Police Officers responded with the Laramie Fire Department ambulance to the 700 block of North 12th for a rescue call involving a 6 month old child.

The release goes on to say that a subsequent investigation led to the arrest of 23 year old Kacie Ploszaj and 34 year old Eliel Lopez for Child Abuse. Both are from Laramie.

Further details on the case were not released.  The press release did however describe punishments for charges of child abuse as follows:

A person is guilty of child abuse, a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than five (5) years, if a person responsible for a child’s welfare intentionally or recklessly inflicts physical injury, excluding reasonable corporal punishment; upon a child under the age of eighteen (18) years.

Aggravated child abuse is a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than twenty-five (25) years if in the course of committing the crime of child abuse, the person intentionally or recklessly inflicts serious bodily injury upon the victim.
