Laramie County Commissioner: We Take Care Of Ourselves

Laramie County Commissioner Diane Humphrey says that residents of other counties in Wyoming who think Laramie County gets disproportionate funding from the state legislature need to check their facts.

While Laramie County does have a number of projects funded by tax money, a lot of those are funded locally. Like every other county, Laramie County receives a certain amount of state money. Many counties don't even have a fifth penny sales tax, as this one does.

Local voters have been generous about approving the optional sixth penny sales tax for local projects, which is not the case in some other counties. Humphrey says a good example of local voters' willingness to support worthwhile projects came last November when they voted for a $25 million bond issue to go toward a pair of new buildings on  Laramie County Community College's Cheyenne Campus.
