Laramie County Clerk Debbye Lathrop says there is no evidence to support rumors of voter fraud in the Laramie County 2014 general election.

She says the most persistent allegations she has heard are that 5000 votes somehow disappeared or weren't counted. But she says there is no evidence of that happening. She says  there wasn't a 5,000 vote difference in any of the races, nor any evidence that 5,000 votes were somehow not counted.

In regard to allegations of irregularities with voting machines, Lathrop says she received "2 or 3" complaints about problems with machines. She says one of those was received from someone voting absentee, and a couple of others from election day voters.

Most of the rumors have concerned the race for the third open seat on the Laramie County Commission, where Democrat Ron Kailey defeated incumbent Republican M. Lee Hasenauer by roughly 1700 votes.

Lathrop says she has no way of knowing how someone voted unless they tell her, and says her office plays a non-political role in elections.
