The Loveland Reporter-Herald says Loveland police first responded to a report of a shooting at 3:25 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 27) in the 300 block of Blackstone Circle. Trahan’s 50-year-old ex-husband was taken into custody at the scene but was later released without charges.

Witnesses at the scene told investigators that the two were arguing over custody issues pertaining to their teenage son when the woman “brandished a pistol and threatened to kill the male,” placing four other family members “in jeopardy.”

An initial report about the incident states that, as the man was trying to get his family safely out of the house, he retrieved a pistol and confronted Trahan. When the two began struggling, the man reportedly fatally shot the woman.

Further information regarding the incident and the identity of the ex-husband has not been released.
