Committee Signs Off on Sale Of Former Cheyenne BOPU Building

The Cheyenne City Council Finance Committee on Monday approved the proposed sale of the former Board Of Public Utilities office building to a local dentist.

Dr. Richard Cutler's bid of $250,000 was only about half of the appraised value of the property. Finance Committee Chair Jim Brown said the city has so far taken two rounds of bids on the property, and no one has offered to pay anything close to the appraised value.

Dr Cutler told the committee the building, at 2100 Pioneer Avenue, will need extensive remodeling to make the property suitable as a dentist office. The proposal still must be approved by the full city council before being finalized. Monday's vote in committee was 2-0 in favor of the sale. Brown, as committee chair, doesn't vote except to break a tie on the committee. The BOPU moved into a new building on Snyder Avenue in 2012.
