An 18 year old Cody man is dead following a single vehicle rollover on Wyoming Highway 296 Saturday evening, according to a spokesman for the Wyoming HIghway Patrol.

Sgt Steve Townsend says Skyler Gabel was  westbound on the Chief Joseph Highway (Wyoming Highway 296) 54 miles north of Cody when he tried to negotiate a left hand curve. Just before completing the curve Gabel's 1992 Chevrolet Silverado went into a broadside slide and crossed  the north side of the highway, rolling an unknown number of times. Townsend says Gabel, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the cab of the pickup and was later declared dead at the scene of the crash.

Excessive speed and possible alcohol use are being investigated as  possible factors in the crash, which happened shortly after 5pm Saturday.
