Speeding is being investigated as a contributing factor in a fatal crash that occurred at 10:55 p.m. Friday night on US 14A three miles north of Cody, Wyoming. 44 year old Michael E. Carr of Cody was killed when the northbound minivan he was driving rolled after he lost control on a right hand curve in the highway and struck a concrete water structure. Just before the crash occurred, a southbound Wyoming State Trooper clocked the van traveling at 108 miles per hour. The crash happened before the trooper could catch up to Carr and initiate a traffic stop.

Carr was not buckled in and was ejected during the crash and died at the scene. This crash marked the 118th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2014.
