Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says the city plans to close on the purchase of the former Dinneen's Car Dealership on July 30.

The city plans to locate a new Public Safety Building on the property to house the Cheyenne Police Department, Cheyenne Fire and Rescue Administration, and other emergency responders. The city plans to incorporate the existing building into the new structure, adding on additional office space and an underground parking structure.

Kaysen says that although some preliminary planning work will get under soon after the city closes the deal, actual construction work will not get underway until 2014. Laramie County voters approved spending $ 25 million in sixth-penny sales tax revenues for a new Public Safety Building in 2012.
