Because of extremely windy conditions this spring, the City of Cheyenne Solid Waste Division will extend the temporary policy requesting Cheyenne residents to bag their recyclable materials  through the end of may.

Solid Waste Director Dennis Pino said in the past they asked residents to throw their recyclable material loosely into their recycling container. However, this spring has been especially windy and Pino said to help prevent a littering problem around our community they are asking residents to bag – either a 15-30 gallon plastic bag or a large paper bag – their recyclable material and put them in the appropriate container now through May.

Sanitation officials are also asking residents on those extremely windy days to refrain from placing their recycling container out to be emptied and wait until their next regularly scheduled pickup day if their recycling container is not full. Cheyenne residents serviced by the City’s single-stream recycling program can also drop off their recyclable material at the City’s Transfer Station, 220 N. College Drive at no charge.

This extension for recycling material is through May 30, 2014.
