Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says city crews are already busy battling potholes on Cheyenne streets.

The mayor says the arrival of colder winter weather always means an uptick of the hazardous holes on city streets. He says crews will be busy repairing the holes over the next few months with a ''cold patch" compound which is a short-term fix specifically designed for the winter months.

Once the weather warms up again in the spring, the crews will again repair the same potholes with a 'hot patch" mix, which is considered a longer-term way to repair the holes.

Potholes have long been considered a hazard of driving in Cheyenne, and city officials have said the local climate, with it's wide range of temperatures and severe winter weather, makes keeping up with the holes a major challenge.
