Cindy Hill: Ready to Resume Her Duties as Head of the Wyoming Department of Education

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming schools Superintendent Cindy Hill says she's focusing on the state's children as she prepares to resume administration of the state Department of Education.

A divided Wyoming Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that a new law removing the state Superintendent of Public Instruction as head of theWyoming Department of Education is unconstitutional.

In brief remarks Tuesday afternoon, Hill says the law that was enacted last year by the Legislature and Gov. Matt Mead was misguided and an unfortunate mistake.

She that says her staff is working on making the transition and that she looks forward to working with agency staff, lawmakers and the governor. Meanwhile the governor's office issued a statement that it's still evaluating the decision but that there will be no immediate changes until the court process is completed.
